As you can understand from its full name, this indoor grill has a 60 square inch surface which is certainly not the smallest electric grilling machine that you can find in the market, but it could be nice if this model came with a slightly bigger cooking surface.
Like many other kitchen appliances that are available in the market, this unit also has a non-stick surface. Such a nonstick coating would make it easier to clean and cook different foods, since it can lower the chance that foods would stick to the surface of the appliance.
However, it’s still necessary to season and care for the nonstick surface of the GR20B indoor grill – if you’re not careful then the non-stick coating could accidentally get damaged.
A good tip that can help you with the cleanup of this electrical appliance would be to clean the surface while it’s still hot (but be aware as to not get burned). For example, you can use a paper towel and a special spatula or other tools – the food remains really come off a lot easier this way and this would also prolong the life of the non-stick surface.
The George Foreman GR20B Grill’s Performance
First of all, the heat distribution of this countertop design is actually quite good – this should allow the users to cook a wide variety of foods like grilled hamburgers, Panini sandwiches, toasts and etc. On the other hand, this specific model has no controls that could lower or increase the temperatures, so certain foods could get burned if you don’t watch them closely.
What you need to understand is that it’s also possible to use the Foreman GR20B family-sized model, which can really help with the foods that have a tendency to get burned when the lid is not open.
Another thing to mention is that this unit is that it doesn’t have removable cooking plates (like those that can be found in other countertop units, like the Cuisinart 5 in 1 griddler for example). That said, it may be harder to clean (since the cooking plates are fixed to the appliance), but the heating mechanism seems to be much better when compared to other countertop units.
The grill includes the sloped design channels that can be used to deal with the extra grease. Moreover, it also comes with a unique spatula and a drip tray – both are actually dishwasher safe.
Furthermore, the price of this appliance is also pretty attractive – and it would be fairly hard to find another indoor electrical tool that would be as cheap as and as versatile as the GR20B model.
I received my George Foreman grill GR20B today, I have not used it yet because it did not come with a drip tray and spatula. Trying to get the parts Amazon says if I ship it back to them, they will ship me another one. I say what the next one doesn’t have them either. George Foreman people say they “may” be able to get me the tray but they can’t get me the spatula. When I try the internet I can get one for $11.98 plus shipping. This is a rip off! $37.00 for the grill and $12 + dollars for the spatula, one third the cost of the grill?? This is the last GF Grill I ever buy.
