Most people would be quite satisfied with the size of this product – its nonstick cooking surface measures 10-1/2 by 20-1/2 inches. While this surface is much larger compared to the small electrical griddles available in the market (like the popular Presto Liddle design), there are enough griddles that can compete with the size of this cooking surface – so it’s not unusually big. Nevertheless, the 07030 unit can easily accommodate large chunks of food.

As with any electrical appliance, it’s important to read the manual that comes with it and follow the instructions. Before initial use, it’s recommended to season the surface with cooking oil – it would cause the non-stick coating to be more effective overall (and in order to properly maintain this model, you’ll have to season it from time to time as well).

Presto 07030 Cool Touch 20 Inch Electric Griddle BlackDue to the fact that this item is fully submersible when the heating controls removed, it’s much easier to clean the appliance when compared to griddles that cannot be submersed in water. The nonstick coating also does a nice job preventing food from sticking to this item, but you’ll have to clean the nonstick surface with caution and by the using the proper tools that won’t damage or scratch the cooking surface.

On the other hand, this Presto design does have a tendency to slide across the countertop, which can be dangerous if you are not careful. The lack of rubber feet is probably the reason that the unit is sliding, and regardless of the reason or the cause, Presto should take care of this issue. Anyway, it can be solved by placing a towel underneath the appliance or you can find other items/ideas that would prevent this product from sliding.

Apparently, not only the 07030 cool touch model itself has a tendency to slide, but the drip tray tends to slide as well. Whenever you move this electrical machine you have to be careful (especially if there is grease in it) and aware of the fact that the drip tray can simply slide out. A good idea would be to separate the drip tray from the Presto griddle when the appliance is stored or not in use (you can place the tray on top of the applaince).

Most of the griddles in the market, particularly the big ones, have some issues with uneven heating, and this cool touch 07030 design is no different. It’s not uncommon for one side of the surface to get hotter than the other side, and Presto should definitely design this appliance so that the heat would be distributed more evenly across the surface. But overall the heat distribution of this unit is fine, and you probably won’t encounter any serious problems with most foods.

There is no doubt that this Presto cool touch product is far from perfect and has a lot of room for improvements, but when you consider its cheap cost – it’s not such a bad deal. The big and nonstick surface of this appliance does a nice job if you maintain it properly and it’s relatively easy to clean this product. However, you have to be careful when using the 07030 unit– both the appliance and the drip tray have a tendency to slide.
