The Cuisinart Company is a universally recognized brand that markets small kitchen appliances, including the famous Cuisinart food processors. Grills and electric griddles are also produced by the company and are known to be of high quality and versatility.
While the Cuisinart griddler is a bit more pricy compared to the cheap Presto griddle, it has a thicker surface that distributes the heat much better. In addition, the average Cuisinart griddler can also be used as a contact grill which makes the unit more versatile compared to other kitchen appliances.
Out of the various Cuisinart griddles one model is grabbing a lot of attention recently; it is the GR 4N machine. This version is the new design of the previous model, which not only introduces five separate cooking options instead of four but, more importantly, offers an appliance that delivers better results.
Cuisinart Griddler GR 4N
Storing this machine is a simple task since it can be folded into a small compact unit. This product offers five in one functionality as a full griddle, full grill, panini press, contact grill and half grill/half griddle (right now, neither of the other griddles manufactured by the same brand have this 5-in-1 functionality).
It’s also possible to remove the nonstick cooking plates and the integrated drip tray for easy cleanup. The griddler GR-4N warms up quickly and the heat is distributed evenly across the surface, resulting in tasty and properly heated food.
Cuisinart GR 4 Griddler Stainless Steel 4 in 1 Grill/Griddle and Panini Press
Despite the fact that the GR-4 model is a good electrical unit that offers interesting features, the new design is superior in every aspect, including the price.
The GR4 griddler has dishwasher safe nonstick cooking plates and a drip cup for catching the extra grease. Unlike the new model, the drip cup is not integrated in the machine itself, thus spilling the cup’s content by mistake can be quite easy.
Cuisinart GR 3 JR Brushed Stainless Steel
While less versatile compared to the GR-4N design, this JR griddler model still offers three cooking options at a cheaper price. The unit can be used as a contact grill, a grill and a panini press, like two previous models.
The removable nonstick plates can be washed in the sink or in the dishwasher, and the drip cup is supposed to deal with the extra grease. However, similar to the GR-4 appliance, the cup is not built-in in the GR-3 model and therefore can cause the same problems.
Cuisinart GR 1 Panini and Sandwich Press
Although the GR 1 machine is also considered to be a griddler it’s actually not a Cuisinart griddle – it’s a Panini and sandwich press. This unit can be used to cook quick Panini’s and other sandwiches pretty well.
In addition, the GR 1 Panini and sandwich maker is much cheaper than most of the other Cuisinart griddles that may be very versatile like the 5 in 1 GR-4N griddler, but it’s definitely not as pricy as this multi-functional unit.
Electrical griddles in general don’t offer the option to be used as a contact grill or a panini press, thus the products reviewed here are quite unique from this standpoint. While these products might not be as big as the Broil King griddle or as cheap as the Presto products, the compact Cuisinart appliances can deliver quality results for three people or more and can be conveniently cleaned after use as well.
