The electric skillet market offers a variety of models to choose from, and certainly one of the most popular choices would be the Presto skillet. Being both cheap and of good quality, the average Presto unit can be easily compared to its close relative that boasts with an impressive amount of sales – the Presto griddle.
However, the griddles of this brand offer the limitation of any electrical griddle – it can be used to cook a smaller range of foods compared to other countertop skillets. On the other hand, the griddle does a better job of cooking with these foods (such as pancakes, eggs, fries and more) and cleaning is usually a lot easier due to the way that the product is designed.
Being much more versatile, the skillets of the said brand can be used not only to cook pancakes but also for frying, roasting and even slow cooking. The splattering of grease and oil will be blocked by the appliance’s lid and some of the company’s skillets, in particular, come with an attractive cover that offers the user the possibility to use the unit as a buffet server. Listed ahead are some of the most familiar models.
Presto 06852 16 Inch Electric Skillet with Glass Cover
Suitable for a wide range of cooking techniques, this design offers a big 16 inches cast aluminum base with a durable glass cover. The cooking surface is big enough to provide the whole family, and the nonstick coating prevents the dishes from sticking to it.
Being fully submersible when heat controls removed, the 06852 model is quite easy to clean and the glass lid would block any splattering from reaching the countertop (and the person who use this appliance). However, one drawback of this machine is that there is no vent on the glass lid. This unit is probably the most popular skillet out of the different Presto skillets reviewed here and perhaps the most popular unit when compared to the products of other brands.
Presto 06850 16 inch Skillet
The versatility and performance of this kitchen item resemble those of other skillets manufactured by the same brand, especially the 06852 design mentioned in the previous paragraph. This particular unit, on the other hand, doesn’t have a glass lid but the innovative plastic Evernu cover. The 16 inch diameter cooking surface is quite large and quickly distributes the heat evenly across the surface. Being dishwasher safe and having a nonstick coating, the 06850 appliance is user-friendly for both cooking and cleaning activities. Unfortunately, there is no vent on the cover of this unit.
Presto 06620 11 Inch Skillet
This relatively small unit can easily fit in any kitchen, thus providing a solution for users who have limited space. Cleaning this kitchen item would be fairly easy since it is fully submersible with the heating plug removed, and unlike many other skillets, this one can be placed in the dishwasher without catching a lot of space.
Overall, the average Presto electrical skillet is relatively cheap and capable of frying, roasting, grilling, baking and much more. A kitchen appliance with such versatility would be a great addition for any kitchen.
